Splicing Engineer
Delivering an excellent Fibre to the home (FTTH) experience to our customers with the installation methods agreed prior to works commencing.
- Self-certifying your own work before signing off as complete
- Installation and servicing of our fibre network infrastructure equipment
- Working on overhead and underground networks
- OTDR testing using testers provided on our internal and external equipment
- Ensuring Health & Safety is a priority when working onsite, taking into consideration your own safety, members of the public and our customers
- Onsite surveys for new customers & locations
- Providing detailed reports
- Identifying, and suggesting ways we can improve the network and our procedures
- Ensuring the customer is given the best service throughout the installation
- Hands-on Installations and Splicing experience
- Knowledge of overhead and underground fibre network installations
- Maintenance and knowledge of Physical Infrastructure Access (PIA) and/or Openreach network
- Ability to work at height, including ladder, pole and tower climbing
- Proficient in using technology – for example: tablets/mobile phones/Microsoft packages.
- Problem solving
- Knowledge on OTDR testing
- Accreditations (SA001, SA002, S7, S8, N23, Tetra, Pole Top Rescue, Confined Spaces, NRSWA)
- This role may be on a variety of contracts and you will be required to travel around the UK to fulfil Company requirements.
Cabling Engineer
Work on the fibre-optic infrastructure for Fibre FTTP network delivery.
- Work on the fibre-optic infrastructure for Fibre FTTP network delivery
- Design schematics, duct diagrams and works instructions
- Ability to produce, update and interpret records of daily work logs, data recordings and network design maps
- Undertake works to set job packs & network design
- Undertaking Test Rod & Roping / Cabling within the network
- Locate blockages and establish clear routes
- Produce A55’s in consultation with the Surveyor
- Completion and submission of all necessary documentation
- Civils avoidance detection and mapping
- Installation of cables, sub duct UG
- Installation of devices UG & OH
- Installation of Blown Fibre Tubing (BFT) and blowing Fibre Initial Test rod and rope of Underground cable routes
- Working at heights and in the UG network whilst adhering to H&S legislation
- Working as a part of team to achieve daily, weekly targets and KPIs
- Adhere to company H&S Policies & Procedures
- Conduct Risk Assessments
- Adhere to NRSWA CoP
- 12 months experience working on a Telecommunications networks
- Ability to work to tight deadlines and prioritise workloads to ensure targets are met and exceeded
- Experience and qualifications in installing “blown fibre” networks.
- Experience in installing “blown fibre” tubing (Underground and overhead)
- Fire stopping (provision/removal)
- Drilling experience internally and externally
- NRSWA Street works accreditation
- NOPS Card
- Accreditations (SA001, SA002, S7, S8, N27, N28, Tetra, Pole Top Rescue, Confined Spaces, NRSWA)
- A willingness to travel between our contract sites
- A full clean UK driving license
- Experience of running cables is essential
- Have a basic understanding of Networking
- Proficient in using technology – for example: tablets/mobile phones/Microsoft packages.
